Saudi Arabia

If you have never travelled to Saudi Arabia before, then you might have the impression that it is an ancient country that is all desert and not much happens there. The country does have an extremely old history but there is certainly a lot going on.

It is part of the Arabian Peninsula and is the part that takes up the greatest area of it.  It actually fills a space which is two thirds the size of India and so there is certainly a lot to explore. It is split in to four regions. The Western area has mountains running all the way through it parallel to the Red Sea. There is a very fertile area which then leads to a dry desert in the middle and there are also sand flats near to the Persian Gulf coast in the Eastern area. There is The Great Nafud Desert in the north which is one of the largest sandy deserts in the world and there are large areas of sand dunes in the south. A third of the  area is actually desert.

The people have an interesting history as well. When oil was discovered in 1938, the King decided that they would need to use Western Technology to be able to make full use of the oil. However, they tried to keep the Islamic and Arab life that they were used to. With it being the birth place of the Prophet Muhammad and of Islam, then it is an important place for religion. There are a selection of holy cities, which many people choose to visit during their stay in the country. In fact this is probably what the place is most visited for.

However, travel to the area is increasing a lot at the moment. Travellers are realising that the area has a lot to offer them, not just in terms of the holy cities but because of the interesting landscapes as well. Many people are also looking for new experiences and travelling to an area like this can help them to get that. A place with such an old history has a lot to offer in terms of old buildings, culture and history which can be a of great interest to many people. Prices are also a big factor with travel at the moment, with fuel being so expensive and people looking for something affordable and therefore Saudi Arabia can be an option of interest which offers good value for money.

Abu Dhabi

If you are looking for a luxury destination which is growing in popularity, the Abu Dhabi is the obvious choice. It is the second largest city in the United Arab Emirates and is the capital. This year has seen record numbers of visitors to the city, which shows that there is certainly a big appeal. The region has large targets for visitor numbers and so they will be working hard to encourage people to stay there, meaning that they should be offerings something which is good value for money.

The city is known for its expensive hotels and is also getting well known as a sporting venue as well. It is also a popular place for business travellers and so there are a great many hotels as well as a large commercial district. There are many tall skyscrapers in the city which are being encouraged to be built so that the central business district can keep on expanding. These tall building are certainly an impressive site but tend to be overlooked for the Shiekh Zayed Grand Mosque which is said to be the most beautiful building in the world. It used building materials form all over the world and was made from natural materials because they last a long time, including marble, gold and semi precious stones. It is one of the most visited buildings in the UAE.

If you would rather see something other than buildings then there are 2000 parks and gardens in the city as well and for something that started out as a strip of desert, that is pretty impressive. It also has  10km of public beaches along the 400km coastline. The modern city also has plenty of shops and restaurants. The food is very diverse as the city welcomes all sorts of inhabitants, although it is easy to find Arab food there. South Asian cuisine and fast food is also easily available. Alcohol is harder to get hold of and tends to only be available in bars of four and five star hotels but is not sold that widely.

It is certainly an interesting way to see the area. Being based in a modern city ensures that you will have all of the facilities that you would ever need, but it means that you are in a modern Arab culture. It is a good base though for exploring some of the more traditional areas of the country.

Arabia and wealth

The area of Saudi Arabia used to just be known for being a big desert area. However, it has more recently become well known for being very wealthy. The discovery of oil in the country was a big event and led to them becoming extremely rich. However, they were keen to hold on to their culture and so it has not become extremely commercialised.

This means that it is possible to visit the country and still experience much of the traditional culture. It is not a place which has become very Westernised. The King is from a long generation of the same family who have encouraged the country to have the same religion and not allow extremist intervention. Their monopoly of power has also allowed the family to modernise the country a little bit and also become more powerful. However, their hard ruling has led to extreme groups forming, which is something that the people are not happy about and there has been increasing pressure on the rulers of the country to do something about.

However, as part of the modernisation of the country, there has been a realisation of the importance of tourism and so this is now being encouraged. This should bring even more wealth in to the country because tourism is a massive growing world market sector. It is something which many people are interested in doing and even those who would have only holidayed ever few years or stayed in their own country are beginning to see travel as something which should be done at least once a year. It is almost a status symbol, to be able to say that you have travelled to many countries in the world and this is why many people are doing it. Young people like to travel before they settle down and have families, then families tend to have cheaper holidays and when children leave home those families will be able to afford to travel again and some even travel in to retirement.

With this trend growing more and more, it is likely that all countries will see more tourists and with emerging markets like Arabia, being spotted by major hotels and tour operators, it is likely that they will soon be attracting many more visitors and making even more money. Despite the world economy still coming out of recession, it does seem that many people are not prepared to give up their foreign holidays and so they are still very popular despite the fact that it would be thought that perhaps this industry should be in a major decline. It has been found that people are looking for better value for money but they are still travelling at the moment.

Holidays in Arabia

If you like going to different places for your holiday then why not try Arabia? It can be a great place to visit with plenty to do, but it is also a great place to talk about when you come back. There are not than many people who have visited this area, but it is an emerging market and so it is likely that it will increase in popularity. It will be great to know that you were one of the first visitors to the area among your friends and family. You will be able to tell them all about it and which parts you felt were worth visiting. It will also be interesting to go back after a few years and see what has changed.

It can be so much fun visiting a country before it gets overrun by tourists. Even if the country still preserves some of its culture, it can be so much better looking at it form the point of view of a visitor when most other people around you are native to that country, rather than looking around it being surrounded by other tourists. The area also tends to change with more tourists. The local businesses will change to selling things that they feel will appeal to the visitors and they may start to lose their traditions. Although this is a sign of the times and you cannot blame them form trying to make themselves more money, it does mean that you will not get to see the traditional country.

Some people do prefer to travel to a place which caters more for tourists, They prefer knowing that they will have all of the facilities that they need and like being able to buy things that they are familiar with. However, many other people prefer to see what the traditions of the country are like and prefer not to have things they are used to. The specific region you decide to visit will determine how much the area caters for tourists. Some areas are more remote and not so used to foreign visitors and so of them are much more used to foreign visitors and so cater for them.

You therefore need to choose carefully, thinking about what you want to see and do. You can always get a bit of both by staying in a big city and looking around more remote areas or staying in a remote area and visiting the big cities.

Jet Off to Morocco Without Breaking The Bank

Now is definitely the best time to start thinking about travel. However, if you’re wrapped up in waiting for life to get better once you hit the big Euro Millions lottery, you might find yourself waiting a long time to get anything done. Is that really the best thing that you can do for your future travels? Not at all. You’re a lot better off thinking about this from a different angle. You’re a lot better off thinking about the things that you can do right here, right now to develop new travel experiences. After all, isn’t that why we travel? We travel for the experience of seeing faraway places, building memories that will last a lifetime, and stepping out of our own culture to see how another society lives form day to day. If those things don’t inspire you, well, you’re not really as adventurous of a traveler as you might think you are. Of course, that’s perfectly okay — some people just want to go to the same place over and over, see a few family members, eat some cake and fall asleep by the pool. You might want a different experience.

Speaking of experiences, have you ever thought of going to Morocco? It’s a Middle Eastern country that has a lot of flavor and culture, and it’s safe to travel there. Some people worry that it will be difficult to get into Morocco, but that’s not the case at all. you will really want to just think about the bigger picture here, and that’s building the experience that you want.

You can start with the flights. You don’t need to upgrade to first class just to have a comfortable plane trip. See if you can get an aisle seat so that it’s easier to move around on the long flight. No matter where you sit on the airplane, the fact is that your flight will be long. Focus instead of getting things to occupy your time during the light, and you should be good to go.

The accommodations where you stay will also make a difference. Instead of tiring to shield yourself from the local culture and flavors of Morocco, why not rent an apartment or vacation rental? They might be a little harder to find if you wander outside of the major cities, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be done. If you’re really serious about creating a unique experience, then the type of accommodation matters.

Travel Documents

Essential Travel Documents

Apart from the holiday itself, one of the most exciting parts of a breakaway is in the planning. However, the problem is that often when caught up in all the excitement, it is easy to forget to pack all the necessary essentials which could ultimately lead to difficulty during your trip.

Below is a guide to a few of the documents that are usually classified as essential when you travel abroad:

The most obvious one (yet some people still forget) is your passport and should you require one depending on your destination, visa. Most countries require you to have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the end of your trip. Check out the entry requirements of the country of your visit and make sure you comply with all the significant points.

You won’t be going anywhere without your tickets which should then be accompanied by any reservations. Reaching the airport only to realise you’ve forgotten your tickets are sure to hamper your holiday. Similarly, should you be choosing to use e-tickets, making sure you print off a paper copy is also a wise idea.

Should you be unfortunate enough to suffer an accident or cancellation during your time away, having your travel insurance documents to hand can help being compensated a lot easier. Although you can’t guarantees what may happen during a trip, and it is always better to be prepared. Cancellation of a flight, adverse weather conditions, loss of luggage, medical emergencies, and such others are unseemly events that you can never predict but don’t have to be stressful with the correct cover and documents to hand.

Some people view insurance as an unnecessary added expense, however facing a problem when abroad without adequate insurance coverage would certainly prove to be far more expensive. Insurance doesn’t have to be expensive, a quick search around the web can yield a number of cheap holiday insurance options.

Some countries have strict age limits for specific activities so it is often wise to carry documents for identification along with you too as this will help you prove your age should you are required to. This shouldn’t be your passport though and make sure you leave a copy of every original document you were carrying back at home, to avoid problems if you happen to lose any of it.

Do not forget the ATM and credit cards too. Carrying an abundance of cash is not a good idea. Your travel insurance would come to use only if you were in some problem within coverage. However, this one essential safeguards you if something unfortunate happens during your trip.
